"It's the intent that counts and not the result."
by donny in"it's the intent that counts not the result.".
i have been out of the jw organization for some 22 years now and i sometimes get a reminding jolt out the hoops that some will jump through to make their religion make sense to them.
the first line in this post is what a jw on the street here in salinas told me on saturday when trying to justify the society's history of false prophecies.

omg. Colored socks. I remember when colored *shirts* was a big, confusing and potentially stumbling ordeal for brothers.

So if "parents are to blame for children leaving the truth", then STEP DOWN GB!
by stuckinarut2 inif to mo's comments in the talk re "parents are to blame for children not being in the truth etc", (and yes, as many have already very nicely pointed out that this must therefore imply that "jehovah is to blame for satan and the angels rebelling"), doesn't this mean then that members of the gb need to step down?.
haven't some of the gb got family that are not "in the truth"?.
hypocrites yet again!.

Yes, good point! And what about dear, faithful, zealous Brother RUTHERFORD! I mean, HE was the one whom Jesus inspected and declared to be the very first, real, FDS! Poor Russell was only a runner-up, despite his founding the whole thing.
But oop, wait a moment here... Didn't Rutherford's one and only son leave the religion and then refuse to have anything more to do with his father, not even attending his funeral? Such a bad, very bad son. But no matter. Jesus evidently saw from his heavenly vantage, something very special in Rutherford and thus declared him the FDS (Which we've only recently realized, close to 100 years later, thanks to the FDS and their superior spiritual understanding and enlightenment.)
And then there is Jehovah. Poor Jehovah, with a whole 1/3 of his sons leaving and abandoning him, to become the horribly wicked and terrible demons (much like us apostates, I suppose...). Well. Thanks to the FDS, we now know it was Jehovah's fault somehow that his sons didn't remain faithful and loyal to him.

Lugubrious!! I remember that word! It was in a WT magazine, in a study article from the 1990's. The WT was talking about people in the world who mourn without hope, and how JWs, in comparison, do not mourn in the same extreme, lugubrious manner!

When did you start getting ANGRY?
by Separation of Powers inwhen i started the fade....i recognize that i was upset, mainly because of the desillusionment.
but, over the course of the past several months, i am noticing an increasing anger toward all thing org.
it can only be described as indignation, not simply upset.

Separation of Powers, that was a beautiful comment to me, thank you. There are so many heart-breaking things that we have all gone through from our slavish devotion to that stupid religion. If the GB are truly aware that they are full of bullshit, then they are very evil people.

This past year was when I really started realizing the impact of following the cult's directives in my life.
I hurt so many people of my non-JW family. And now most of them are very old or dead and so all those years are lost, all those opportunities are gone. I never went to family reunions or get togethers. When my "worldly" family invited us to anything, even a summer barbecue, I would see it all as a temptation from Satan. Couldn't have association with them! I hate the way I behaved as such a smug, self-righteous little JW b*tch. (I guess my user name is confusing, but I am female).
I wouldn't even pray with my dying Aunt because she went to an evil, demonic church. On her deathbed, she wanted to see me. So I came, with my stupid New World Translation and tried to share a few verses, but she wanted to hear the 23rd Psalm and have me say the Lords Prayer. *And I refused.* I don't know how I can ever forgive myself for these actions.
You hear people talking about Karma and stuff like that, and if there is any truth to that, then I am screwed. I was a horrible, totally indoctrinated JW. I have so much regret in my heart also at the strict way I raised my little children. I know now how much they suffered.
I am now an old lady who also gave most of my vital, adult life to the WT organization. It is a huge betrayal.
As Ray Franz pointed out, they play with life's MOST VITAL AND IMPORTANT ASSETS -- your time, career, family, work, who you marry or don't, whether you have children, your hobbies and spare time... all of you and your life and choices are supposed to go toward the "kingdom". I was one of those people who truly believed that you were supposed to love Jehovah with your whole heart, mind, soul, and strength (and all the million minuscule ways you're supposed do that) -- it truly MAKES ME SICK NOW. It literally turns my stomach and makes me feel physically ill. I cannot see myself EVER, EVER being involved with religion ever again. Believing in the Flying Spaghetti Monster makes almost as much sense to me as the GB being Christ's brothers. The Bible makes no sense to me any more and I can't even stand reading it. It all makes me ill.
What gets me now is how the WTS takes and takes and takes and takes and gives NOTHING back if and when you need them.

Name the GOOD things and NICE things about Jehovah's Witnesses
by stuckinarut2 inok, so in the interests of balance....(as it has rightly been pointed out that i am getting more bitter toward the org), can we think of any positive or nice things about jehovah's witnesses?.
just throwing this topic out there....... .

They are... punctual. Their meetings always start on time, and usually end on time.
They know how to arrange and stack chairs.
They also really know how to make the most of 1950 clothing styles and fashion.

David Splane Destroys the Very Foundation of 1914- Corp. Meeting New Light
by scotoma inat the corporate meeting david splane discusses the use and misuse of types/antitypes.. the main qualifier of a type is that an account must be represented in the scriptures as a. type of some future event.. he quoted schroeder who said if an account isnt explained in the scriptures as a type than you.
shouldnt use the event as a type.. splane summed up his talk by saying if the bible is silent - we must be silent.. but they go right on celebrating the 100 years from 1914 which was determined by improperly.
going beyond anything written in the bible about nebuchadnezzars tree dream.. the bible specifically refers to the immense tree as representing nebuchadnezzar.. daniel explained it and that should be the end of the matter.. .

Oh gawd.... If Dave-id Splane is or becomes the new "oracle" of JW-land, those poor R & F are in for a horror show.

At times, I am still able to jump into my JW head (yes, it is a frightening, terrible place! :) -- but I think I might see what you might be feeling or getting at.
You were, and are, being shunned hard by your "dear, faithful, loyal" JW family And it has caused much pain and loneliness for you and those closest to you now. You know they are being bravely supported by all those other faithful, loyal Witness who keep encouraging them for their fine, strong stand. And are they not a fine example indeed! Look how their faithful stance is being blessed (by whatever theocratic bullshit & privileges).
And so you are shunned, left out, and hurt.
And here is Another family, perhaps not so loyal and faithful to Jehovah and his righteous standards.... Why yes, they are hypocrites according to the standards of this religion!! And they are also not disciplined when they do not shun in the same way.
When someone buys into this religion hard (as I did, and as your family, from the sounds of it, also did), then these are the way of things. And when other families "in the truth" are not so "faithful" or are even, gasp - spiritually weak!! - this is also the way of things in the congregation (and there are always those situations!)
yes, it feels like duplicity and according to the standards of the JW world, it is not right! so maybe these are the feelings you are trying to come to terms with.
it might help to remember there are different levels of belief and indoctrination -- and if the GB had their way, EVERYBODY would be "sheeplike" and follow their counsel!!! And yes, many people do (I sure did!!!). And then there are other people in the congregation who are more balanced, and I mean that word in the "worldly" way now, the non-JW meaning of "balance" which the JWs have also tainted by their bias and prejudice.
in some way, shape or form, this religion hurts everybody, some more than others. I am sorry you are going through this.
